Vitamin d-3, benefits and side effects 2014

What is vitamin D-3
Vitamin D-3 is been made in your skin
with the help of the UV-B radiation of the sun.


More and more studies are being done
and it becomes clearer and clearer
what the effect of this vitamin is.
Or what the lack of it means
for your health.

Vitamin D-3 is not in your food!


How do you get vitamin D-3
As I said before,
it’s through the sun we get this vitamin.

People used to think that the exposure
of your hands and face for a duration
of 15 minutes daily was more then enough
to keep a healthy level of vitamin D-3 in your body.


This is not true!


Especially not in places like the Netherlands
or Northern America and canada.
Not even if you would be outside
al day in winter time.


Only from april till september
the sun is strong enough.
But during this time the sun
is often blocked by clothes of sunscreen.

So still no vitamin D-3.
In these months you should be
naked in the sun for about 15 minutes
daily between 11 am and 3 pm
to have a positive effect.


Why I take Vitamin D-3?
For years I had to deal with depressions
every winter.
No energy, no happyness,
I didn’t want to come out of bed.


My business always went bankrupt
in the winter.
Not for real of course,
but I was convinced it would.


This started every year around September.
They call it SAD,
what stands for “Seasonal Affective Disorder”.
And Sad it is.


What really used to help was daylight.
Going on holidays to warm and sunny country’s
or where there is snow, nice and bright.


But there are also a lot of different artificial lights.
Depending how strong the light was
you would have to sit about 20 minutes
to half an hour right in front of this light.


For a long time it helped,
but it was still a struggle to get through the winter.
Not only for me,
but also for my wife Muriël
and my 2 kids


My father had the same condition
and also had to deal with himself.


Untill our discovery of Vitamin D-3!!


I’m not kidding!
2014 is the first year I’m taking
a high daily dosis of vitamin D-3,
about 200 microgram.


The result is that I am
a happy guy with a lot of energy.


Enough energy for playing with my kids,
go to the gym,
running a restaurant
and building an online business at the same time.


Side effects D3
A highly dosis for a longer time
can cause the calcium level to raise in your blood.

You can check your blood
to be sure what how much you need.
Be aware that most dokters use different
standards about what level is common.

How Vipassana Meditation Changed My Life

Vipassana Meditation

Let me start with explaining what Vipassana meditation is.
It is also known by the name ‘’Anapanasatie Yoga”.
It was rediscovered by Gotama Buddha
more than 2500 years ago and was taught by him
as a universal remedy for universal ills, i.e.


Vipassana is about observing yourself from within.
It’s a meditation without visualisatie, without verbalisation.
The only thing you actually do
is to sit and observe.


In Vipassana meditation you don’t have
the intention to change something.
You are aware of  of breathing in and out
and and your body is taking care of that activity.
That’s why you can let go all control.
And letting helps you to connect the body with the soul.

All those who try it will find Vipassana to
be an invaluable tool with which to achieve
and share real happiness with others.

How I Discovered Vipassana Meditation

About 10 year ago, I started to practice Vipassana meditation.
I was searching for something likewise,
but couldn’t find it.
My father discovered it in a newspaper article,  
searching for something completely else….
A rental house for us!
So it was kind of something that ‘’jumped’’ on our paths.
(Were just came back from  along travel and we were expecting our first child and needed anough space to live in)


My dad did his first 10 day course.
That’s how the you learn the Vipassana technics.
A few months later I did my first 10 day course too.

(and how I’m able to produce an online income,
while practising Vipassana for 10 days,

It was very exciting, because what was I thinking?……
For ten days 10 and a half hours a day meditating.
No speaking, no talking, no fysical contact
or contact with the outside world
and no eye contact with other students
Get up at four A M and you eat your last meal at 11 A M.

I was’t sure If I was able to finish the course.
Specially the not speaking part was completely new for me.
But somehow,  after I decided to go for it,
I acieved my epic mission!
It was only 10 days on a whole life, so what!
those were my helping thoughts.

How Vipassana Meditation Changed Family Life

The results ware amazing.
When I came home,
I felt like I was a fresh new me,
very equanimous and peaceful and balanced mind.

Since that experience,
Vipassana has become our way of living.
Also because my wife Muriël and our dauhgter Sem
practise Vipassana regularly. 
Sem visits special children courses
that comes with a lot of other activities,
like making cookies,
handcrafting and climbing threes.
And of course shorter meditation sessions.

I can advise all people to practise Vipassana.
It’s a non religious, non sectarian meditation.
People learn to observe life how it is,
resulting in a balanced mind full of love and compassion.
There are no charges for the courses,
so it stays very pure and everybody is equal.

Vipassana suits completely our vision in life and in business.
Vipassana teaches people to be equanimous
and to love and help others,
no matter what where they come from.

top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world to visit 2014

This is my top ten of the most beautiful beaches.

Oké, we haven’t visited them all, but they are on our bucketlist….


Number 1 The Dutch beach, the southern part

I was not sure on what place to put this beach. But deep in my heart this is my favorite beach in the world. It’s the beach near Scheveningen, Holland. In summer or winter, both beautiful. It’s perfect for surfing, kitesurfing and I personaly l love to ride my Fatbike on the this beach. You can ride al the way along the coast.


Number 2 Peniche Portugal

A two hour drive north of Lisboa in Portugal, there is penich.
Beautiful and rough. Great for surfing. Big Antlantic swells.
But what I also liked were the restaurants an little cafés on the beach.


Number 3  Bora Bora

Maybe a cliché, but this where I want to be. Cristal blue water, warm etc etc.
This should be my number 1, but since I haven’t been there yet…


Number 4 Hidden beach, Mexico

This is a hidden beach in Mexico. If you walk over land, you can’t see it.


Number 5 Pink sand Beach

Pink sand beach on the Bahamas, wouldn’t you just love to be there?


Number 6 The Seychelles

This is one of those beaches……


Number 7 Fernando de Noronha, Brazil


The archipelago of Fernando de Noronha is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is not a beach where you just go for a day. Visitors are restricted, but the lucky few are rewarded with unrivaled beaches and soothing warm waters filled with dolphins and sea turtles. It’s perfect for diving. Talking about desserted beaches.


Number 8 Issyk kul, Kyrgyzstan

Where? On the shores of the second biggest lake of Asia. Kyrysztan, a former Sovjet Union country with mostly mountains ( 85% of the country is above the 1500 meters. Far Far away from the ocean you can still enjoy the beach!

Number 9 Wineglass beach, Australia

I just love the shape of this beach


Number 10 Daytona beach

It’s a wide sandy beach in Florida at the atlantic side. a bit north you drive your car on the beach and picnic. We went there in october 2014 and surfed al day.

How Consistent Practice Will Lead To Progress In 5 Simple Steps

Just want to share a short story about

how your consistent practice will
lead to progress in 5 simple steps.

It doesn’t matter in what area you want to make progress.
The thing you always have to do is be consistent with practicing.

For example,
going once to the gym will not give you your ideal body.
But if you practice a lot &
surround yourself with people who are better than you,
you’ll get better every single time.
Because you can learn from them.

An inspiring environment will help you.
Connect with other sporters.
People who are complaining about sports
will not help you to reach your goals in the gym.
You even don’t feel to go anymore
when it’s your friend who is getting the active thing down.

Bet he or she isn’t strong anough
to be as consistent as you working out,
and is now reflecting it on your behaviour,
by get you off track.
Unfortunately this happens ladies and gentlemen 🙁

Ofcourse you also need a qualified trainer
who can teach you how to work out
to get the results you want.

You have to act the same way to make progress
in building your business.
Practice consistently and you will make progress
with your business.

The 5 steps to take in any area to get progress
So step number 1 is
1) Find out what you want to accomplish.

Step number 2 is
2) Take the desiscion to go for it

Step number 3 is
3) Surround yourself with people who are better than you and
  learn from them.

Step number 4 is
4) Find a coach, sponsor, mentor, or trainer who can teach you how

Step number 5 is
5) Be consistent and never quit!

Stay Positive

My buddy & I were fatbiking on the beach,
when we hit a “mountain” of shells.
The result was a flat tire! A 4,8 inch flat tire.


I found the hole, it was big.
But then I found out that the glue was finished!!!
So I had to walk untill my friend came back with glue.
(He went to get some glue
at a friends house near by Scheveningen.)


I could have been sad,
because we were going fast
and there was no wind and now I had to walk.


But to be hounest?
I never walked, by myself in the dark
(there was no moon that night) on the beach.
First I felt a bit uncomfortable.
But after a while I loved it.
So peaceful.
It was because I choose to enjoy
to be alone in the dark on a desered beach.


Did you know that you have “filters” behind your eye’s and ears?
These filters are the reason
that you see things in a certain way.

Luckily, you have control over these filters.
See it like a basebal cap.


If the cap is to the front: you filter everything in a positive way.

But if the cap is to the back: you see everthing dark and negative.



So, when you get up in the morning,
make sure your cap is in the front!


Even in a situation where you get bad news.
If you have a positive filter on,
things are not that bad.

Refraim the situation yourself!

If you win the lottery:

Positive: Jaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!

Negative: Now I have to pay a lot of taxes,
all my friends want to go out with me
and they want me to pay etc etc.

It was the year of 2002
that Dirk and I left our home
& quit our jobs in Holland.
We were going to be on the road for 1 year to visit Asia.

It was before the digital era.
We had no digital camera, mobile phones or laptops.
There was no facebook and we never heard about viral blogs.
We just opened an Hotmail account and learned how that worked on the road.
(Ok, we were a bit slow with that,
but that’s just how things were.)

That’s why our picures have bad quality colors 🙁
But fortunately our memories still very fresh 🙂
It was the year that Dirk proposed me!

And last but best tip from oldschool travellers,
about what we would advise you do now while traveling.
